New Diabetes Institute to Help Employers in the Greater Philadelphia Region Prevent, Manage, Support and Reduce Diabetes

(Feasterville, PA) – August 22, 2018 – On Wednesday, August 22, 2018, a large gathering celebrated the establishment of the Signature Diabetes Institute (“SDI”) at its Feasterville, PA location, 1234 Bridgetown Road, Feasterville. The Signature Diabetes Institute will bring together the region's dynamic clinical endocrinologists, Alan Schorr, DO and Arvind Cavale, MD along with dietitians Lesley Kelner and Natallia Berila to use best practices of the Signature Diabetes Institute ("SDI") to reduce the human and financial costs of diabetes.

Local elected officials attended included: U.S. Congressman Brian Fitzpatrick, State Representative Frank Farry and Sheriff Milt Warrell.

Representative Farry commented, “We’re excited to celebrate the launch of the Signature Diabetes Institute in Bucks County.  The impacts of diabetes are tremendous to families and employers and this is certainly a big step forward.”

Congressman Fitzpatrick concluded, “It’s exciting to join everyone today for this important milestone. Diabetes is a large cost to employers and families, the human and financial costs are high. I hope many organizations start to work together with organizations like the Signature Diabetes Institute to reduce this impacts.”

State Senator Tommy Tomlinson sent remarks to thank SDI for joining the community. “Congratulations to the Signature Diabetes Institute.  With the significant costs of diabetes across Metro Philadelphia the Institute’s timing couldn’t be better,” he said.

One of the fastest growing expenses in healthcare, diabetes already costs the Metro Philadelphia region more than $6.1 Billion, annually. Diabetes is very disruptive to families and employers for appointments, absenteeism and increased hospital visits.

To address the rising costs and impacts of diabetes, organizations contract with SDI to manage the total cost and impacts of diabetes.  Through a thorough implementation plan and intake strategy, SDI immediately impacts employee health and organizational costs. In doing so, SDI helps plan sponsors, trustees, directors and board members manage one of their fastest growing expenses. Today, an organization's total cost of diabetes can exceed 15% of total healthcare costs. Between 2012 and 2017, the cost of diabetes grew by 25%, making the total cost $327 Billion in America.*Source: American Diabetes Association
